St. Francis

This weekend I learnt about the life of St. Francis. I knew that he was famous for talking with animals and all of the normal stereotype images. But I didn't know

1. That he came from a wealthy merchant family

2. His encounter with a Leper was the start of his conversion

3. He gave literally everything to God and came down from this social hierarchy that he was in

4. God told him to go and 'rebuild my house'- and he took this a little too literally.

When hearing this, I felt a deep connection to the phrase 'go and rebuild my house.' We are at a point where we need to rebuild the Church, to change culture entirely and, in my opinion, become ecological warriors.
