Grease lightening - DIY hair gel

So I don't use any hair products anymore. But my boyfriend does and he has some (if I do say so myself) sexy grease lightening hair style. He said yesterday 'Alice, I have run out of hair gel' and I said 'NEVER FEAR - I shall make some.' To research I went. Within 5 minutes I had a recipe and a plan.

For the recipe you will need

1/4 cup of linseed/flaxseed (fyi they are the same, I didn't know that, I also didn't know that they are the seeds on my multigrain bread that I really like)

600ml of water

mason jar

wooden spoon

stocking sock (hear me out)

First thing - the reason why this recipe is zero waste is because I brought my flax seeds at my bulk food shop. Super cheap too. BYO jar.

Step 1: pour 600ml of water and the 1/4 cup of flax seed into saucepan.

Step 2: on medium heat let boil and stir

step 3: boil until you can run the spoon through it and it makes like a trail. Think like a big lump of mucus like snot.

Step 4: take it off the heat. cool for 30 minutes (or longer if you want a harder hold).

Step 5: put stockings on the jug (yes you heard right)

step 6: pour the goop into the stocking

step 7: squeeze out the goop into the jug until its just seeds left in the stocking. yes it will feel as gross as it sounds. p.s. it looks like vomit.

Step 8: That's your hair gel! Now use the spatula to pour into a clean mason jar.

Will update on how it goes in hair tomorrow.
